POINT OF AYRE LIGHTHOUSE ISLE OF MAN
Established in 1818 by Robert Stevenson. The character of the light is Flashing (4) White every 20 seconds for 19 nautical miles.
The tower features 2 distinctive red bands and is 30 meters in highest, with 124 stairs to the top of the tower. The cottages and outbuildings are now privately owned. The tower still maintained by the Northern Lighthouse Board and the light remotely monitored from 84 George Street Edinburgh.
In 2020 during the Covid19 Pandemic all the lighthouses were being monitored remotely from a house in Shotts North Lanarkshire as staff were working from home.
